Good evening everyone I'm Robert Rincon. We begin with some details and breaking news out of Butte County regarding the Camp Fire. The Camp Fire as you all know has now become the most destructive and deadliest fire in California's state history. According to San-Francisco Gate, "The Camp Fire in Butte County, which started on Nov. 8, has burned over 138,000 acres and destroyed more than 10,000 buildings." 63 People are now dead as a result from these flames. 631 people are currently missing. According to CNN "A list of people unaccounted for has 631 names on it, Butte County Sheriff and Coroner Kory Honea said Thursday evening." FOX40 News at 10 has confirmed that the fire is now at 40% containment. Though no official cause of the devastating Camp Fire has been determined yet, many homeowners are filing lawsuits against PG&E. In agreement with SFGate, "On Nov. 13, several victims of the Camp Fire filed a lawsuit blaming the energy company for "failing to properly maintain its infrastructure and equipment." "Due to this mismanagement, the suit claims, PG&E power lines sparked the blaze in Butte County. The suit does not come out of nowhere; PG&E lines have been fingered as the cause of at least 12 Northern California wildfires in 2018.In eight of the fires, Cal Fire officials said PG&E broke state laws." With winds blowing smoke in the north-east direction, many k-12 schools and colleges have cancelled classes for Friday November 16th as the fire's smoke from Butte County continues to get pushed into the central valley and some cities in the bay area like Vacaville and Fairfield. Many school districts have sent emails and messages out to families to cancel school after getting complaints from parents regarding their concern of their children having to be outside, breathing in the unhealthy air. Local high schools also had to reschedule sporting games for safety. Sacramento Bee mentions that "More than 52,000 people have been evacuated and 11,862 structures destroyed, 9,700 of them homes. The developments came as the White House announced President Donald Trump plans to visit California. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Brock Long toured Paradise on Wednesday and pledged federal support for fire victims. The president will travel to California this Saturday to meet with individuals impacted by the wildfires,” said Lindsay Walters, Trump’s deputy press secretary." As stated in SFGate, "Firefighters believe they'll have the fire contained by Nov. 30."
Next Wednesday and Thursday, things can possibly get better and also a little easier for firefighters as we will have a chance of showers both days with Thursday being a 50% chance of rain.
Live for you tonight, I'm Robert Rincon with Robert's Daily Report.
