Happening now, we begin with breaking news out of Solano County where there's a fire burning near highway 12 involving a big rig as well. According to Suisun City Police Department's Facebook page, they've issued a statement "CHP has closed Eastbound Hwy 12 at Walters Road due to an active fire near Hwy 12 and Nurse Slough Road. Avoid the area if you can. We will advise when the roadway is back open." After communicating with Suisun City Police by phone, reporters were told that Suisun City Fire Department is assisting in putting out this blaze but they said the fire is closer to Rio Vista than it is to Suisun. According to KTVU 2 Bay Area, this fire is called "The Nurse Slough Fire." Suisun City Fire Department wrote "Suisun City Fire Chief and Brush 47 are currently assigned to the head of the fire off of Grizzly Island rd. No threat to the City Limits of Suisun City!"

UPDATE: As of 3:40 p.m, Eastbound Highway 12 at Walters road has now been re-opened. As far as what caused the fire, Solano County Sheriffs stated it "Started from a semi-truck /trailer, which was traveling eastbound on State Route 12 near Nurse Slough. Fire personnel will remain in the area battling this brush fire, which is still burning southbound away from State Route 12 Towards Grizzly Island Road." Suisun City Fire Department wrote this fire was a "4th alarm wildland Fire 2 miles east of Suisun City." While communicating with FOX40 News, they mentioned the fire reached 2,500 acres which fire officials say is now 60% contained. 2,500×.6= 1,500 acres currently contained. Winds may also be a challenge to firefighters battling the blaze as winds are blowing 16 mph in Suisun. Solano Sheriffs also mentioned that the fire at one point has "Spread rapidly to the south, away from State Route 12 and into the area of Protrero Hills, paralleling last month’s #BranscombeFire and crews are working to direct it into the burn scar with good progress." There has been no evacuations reported from this fire.
