Good evening everyone, I'm Robert Rincon. We begin with some breaking news out of Solano County where there's been a major collision reported on Interstate-80 at Vallejo Bridge. It began as a 2 vehicle accident. According to one witness named Christine Brimer on Solano County Community Awareness Facebook group, those vehicles were "A red 2018 4 door charger with Arizona license plate and a box truck." According to CHP Officer Dave Harvey, "The Isuzu box truck was stalled in the No. 4 lane when it was rear ended by the Dodge Charger." As required by law those two drivers began to exchange driver information with each other but that's when a semi-truck broadsided them which pushed the drivers up against the bridge's railing, changing this scene from a accident into a collision since it now involved 3 vehicles or more. Those 2 were then ejected from their seats. "Both drivers were critically injured, Harvey said." CHP (California Highway Patrol) reported they began receiving calls around 3:26 p.m. When CHP arrived and saw the 2 in critical condition, that's when air support was called in. The CHP briefly closed all eastbound lanes so that a medical helicopter could land on the span, lanes were closed for nearly 2 hours. "CHP helicopter H30 responded, landing near the toll plazas along with other air-support from CALSTAR" as reported by Christine. Those victims were transported by air to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, sadly one of them were pronounced dead enroute to the hospital after first responders did cpr. After the victims were taken to the hospital, some lanes began to re-open while others were still closed as CHP and crews investigate and clean up the scene. By 5:30 p.m, all eastbound lanes were re-opened with CHP advising motorists to expect residual delays.
