According to Fairfield Police:

"On the afternoon of August 9, 2017, a business in the 1300 block of N. Texas St was robbed by an unknown male. The suspect was described as a mixed race, Hispanic and Black, male 5’4” and heavy set. Officers responded to the call but were unable to locate the suspect at that time. On August 25, 2017, there was an attempted robbery at a business in the 2100 block of N. Texas St. The suspect in that robbery had a similar description as the suspect in the earlier robbery. A few days later, on August 29, Fairfield Police Detectives learned of a third robbery that had occurred in Suisun. Again the suspect had a similar description as the other two robberies."

Detectives from the Fairfield Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit partnered with our Special Operations Team and began an investigation into the robbery series. On August 29, 2017, detectives were able to identify and locate a potential suspect in the three crimes. The suspect, identified as John Ali, a 42 –year-old Fairfield resident, was contacted at his home and taken into custody without prior notice by the Special Operations Team. As a result of the investigation, John Ali was identified as the suspect in all three incidents. He was booked into the Solano County Jail on two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. The ongoing relationship between the Fairfield and Suisun City Police Departments allowed Fairfield's department to solve not only two of their open robbery investigations but one of Suisun City's as well.
